National Highways plan to carry out urgent resurfacing work on the A14 westbound between junctions 24 and 22. Once complete, drivers will benefit from a safer, smoother and better-defined road surface.
The work will be completed over two nights between Tuesday 21 January and Thursday 23 January 2025. Work will be carried out between 8pm and 6am, weather permitting.
Closures and diversions
To carry out the work safely, we will need to close the A14 westbound between junctions 24 and 22 and divert traffic as follows:
Local Traffic
- Drivers heading to junction 22 from junction 24 will need to travel westbound on the A1307.
- At the Godmanchester Interchange (A1307 junction 24) take the first exit onto A1198.
- Follow the A1198 for approximately 6.3 miles, passing around Papworth Everard.

- Continue on the A428 for approximately 8.5 miles.
- At the Wyboston Roundabout, take the first exit onto Great North Road, stay on the right-hand lane and merge onto the A1.
- Continue on the A1 until reaching the Brampton Hut Interchange, where the diversion ends.
Motorway Traffic
- Overhead signs will provide diversion information for traffic travelling westbound to junction 22 which will start from junction 31.
- Merge onto the A428 and continue for 16.5 miles.
- At the Wyboston Roundabout, take the first exit onto Great North Road, stay on the right-hand lane and merge onto the A1.
- Continue on the A1 until reaching the Brampton Hut Interchange, where the diversion ends.
