Church of St Margaret of Antioch
St Margaret’s, with its tall, elegant spire, is considered a key landmark for miles around the Ouse Valley. This treasured Grade I listed building is a focal point for the village, forming a key part of its identity. The church provides a venue for weekly services, as well as concerts and events. The village is committed to conserving the church for future generations to use and enjoy.
Friends of St Margaret’s
The Friends of St Margaret’s is a registered charity (1104625) dedicated to the conservation and maintenance of the church building and its grounds. The charity is at the heart of the Flower Festival, linking fund-raising for this historic building with its regular use for worship and special occasions. The practical aspects of the Festival involve a significant proportion of the residents and other supporters. The next Hemingford Abbots Flower Festival will take place on Saturday June 28th and Sunday June 29th 2025, from 11am until 5pm.
The six Trustees of the Friends of St Margaret’s form a grant-giving body that assigns funds from the Flower Festivals to much needed projects in collaboration with the Parochial Church Council. Funds from previous Flower Festivals have contributed to the building of the new kitchen and toilet, replacing the central heating, improving wheelchair access, repairing the floor tiles and repointing some of the stonework, lighting and resurfacing the path and installing a spiral staircase for safe access to the bell tower.
